A merrymaking, womanizing knight (Sir John Falstaff) and a jealous husband obsessed with being cuckolded (Master Ford) become the victims of the hoaxes set up by the merry wives of the royal city of Windsor to cure and punish both.
After the legendary production of 1978 at the Youth Theater in Piatra Neamţ by the (then) young – and always restless – Alexandru Tocilescu, Shakespeare’s comedy is now the pretext of a musical mounted at Metropolis Theater by the same director, in which unbridled fun and subtle melancholy constantly echo each other. The music written and performed live by Nicu Alifantis and his band, Felicia Dalu’s choreography, and the actors’ self-assured acting are the main ingredients of the new staging.
