You may not see in Bucharest the same show as the audience in Timisoara, because Radu Afrim conceived it to suit the unusual space recently offered the Timisoara National Theater, i.e. an old barrack revamped as a gym. But the assets of the show do not consist of the set and lights designed by Velica Panduru alone, but also of the way in which the director succeeds in creating the characters’ particular world. This is the “trademark” of the stage director Radu Afrim, who is on his way to European recognition as a guest of Odeon Theater in Paris in 2009. The show is a new sign of Timisoara National Theater’s revival after a long period of stagnation, and its value is certified by the nomination for the KulturForum Europa awards too.
