About the Festival

Every year, during the first days of November, Bucharest and its leading theatres and performing venues will play host to the major theatre event in Romanias- the National Theatre Festival.

In 2008 RNTF will celebrate its 18th edition and it will bring to Bucharest world-renowned theatre creators, but most of all will present a “Romanian Showcase”, a ten-day presentation of the best Romanian theatre productions of 2007.

Famous Romanian directors, the internationally acclaimed new wave of young Romanian playwrights, as well as “new entries” ready to jump start their careers will present their work in Bucharest this November.

Cristina Modreanu (b. September 1974) is a theater critic and journalist.
In 1997 she received a university degree in journalism from the Journalism and Communication Sciences Faculty of the University of Bucharest; her graduation thesis was entitled Tendencies in Romanian Theatrical Journalism between 1990-1996. Cristina Modreanu is currently preparing her thesis Reinventing the Acting Space in Romanian Theater after 1990 as a doctoral candidate at the University of Theatrical and Cinematographic Art in Bucharest.
