“I wanted to stage, together with Péter Uray and the excellent company at M Studio, a performance in which tragedy and comedy do not repel each other, but on the contrary, attract each other. A show in which comedy begets tragedy, and the tragedy has deep burlesque echoes. Just like a Shakespeare play. Just like silent comedies. We wanted to put up a performance that asks what is true and what is illusory in love, and looks for emotion precisely in the surprising reversals of situation that transform the truth into lies and lies into truths. A show about the transformation of a burning passion into its laughable, albeit terrible, opposite: blind jealousy. A show about any of us in times of crisis. A show in which laughter and sadness get along well.”
Mihai Măniuţiu
Subtitled “a tragicomedy for times of crisis”, the show is an original synthesis of words, music, movement, dance, an acutely topical version of Shakespeare’s play.
