Hot Heads is a show about the “mineriade” of the 1990s, documented, written and edited by Mihaela Michailov and David Schwartz, and performed by the actor Alex Potocean. Better known from the films of the new generation of Romanian directors, in his one-hour show Potocean changes from Marian Munteanu (former student leader beaten up by the miners) into Ion Iliescu (former Romanian president in the 1990s) and many others to voice opinions about the shocking events of the 90s that brutally ended the post-December 1989 wave of sympathy for Romania. In a documentary show based on more than forty interviews with persons involved in the events, the young artists attempt to understand how such an episode was possible in Romania’s recent history, sounding the alarm on the danger of its being repeated in a strongly politically polarized society.
