The “European Masks at …Masca Theater” Festival
European Masks at …Masca Theater presents alternative theater performances by great actors and stage directors. The festival promotes a particular style based on pantomime, bodily expression and clownery, which entails direct contact between the actors and the audience.
The first three editions had as guests Jozef Szajna with the Wanda Siesmaszkowa Theater from Rzeszow (Poland), Jango Edwards (Holland) and Nola Rae (UK).
In 2008, the guest of the festival is Claire Heggen, cofounder with Yves Marc of Théâtre du Mouvement, a theatrical research and creation company. The conception of the two artists about the contemporary actor and mime is based on the theatricality of the movement and gestures. Together they staged over 30 shows presented in almost 60 countries.
Claire Heggen will present one of the most recent productions of Théâtre du Mouvement, Le chemin se fait en marchant / You Make Your Way By Walking, a one-woman show consisting of her ideas about art, accumulated in a career that spans over 45 years. For four days she will also conduct the “Means of Gestural Theater” workshop.
