Bury Me Behind the Baseboard is a filigree story about a child’s love for his mother, the hurdles he must overcome to be with her, feelings that cannot be stifled, and the need for love of a human being caught in the devastating conflict between the two cardinal points of his world: Mother and Grandmother.
An adaptation for the stage of the eponymous autobiographical novel by the Russian writer, translator and filmmaker Pavel Sanaev, published in 1995, the text allowed the stage director Yuri Kordonsky, on his fifth collaboration with Bulandra Theater, a jeweler’s work on both the characters and the relations between them, while giving the actors the opportunity to display remarkable intensity and vibrancy.
